Two weeks ago, I dropped off two kids at college—one in Ohio and one in Texas—just a few days apart. It was a whirlwind of cars, flights, and teary goodbyes, and a reminder that big milestones have a way of arriving faster than we expect.
Now that I’m home and settled, and the tears have dried, I’m excited to dive into our fall projects and help clients bring their 2026 dream homes to life.
Topic & Tips
It might feel early to think about a project for 2026, but when it comes to new builds or large-scale renovations, early planning is key to a smooth, successful experience. In fact, the most seamless, well-executed projects always begin with a solid plan and plenty of lead time.

Why Start So Early?
1. Design Takes Time
Creating a fully customized design—one that’s tailored to your style, needs, and lifestyle—doesn’t happen overnight. From the initial consultation to developing concepts, making selections, and finalizing drawings, the design phase alone can take several months.
2. Builders Book Up Fast
Great builders and contractors often book months to a year in advance. By beginning now, you’ll have more flexibility when it comes to choosing the right build team—and more time to get permits and materials in order.

3. Supply Chains & Lead Times
While the industry has improved since 2020, lead times on materials and furnishings can still vary. Planning ahead helps avoid delays and ensures you can get the finishes, fixtures, and furnishings you love.
4. You’ll Feel More in Control
Rushing decisions under pressure rarely leads to the best outcomes. Starting early gives you the freedom to make thoughtful choices, plan your investment appropriately, and enjoy the process.
