Chula's Mexican-Latin Food & Spirits
Photographer: Chelsie Lopez
Chula's Mexican-Latin Food & Spirits opened in downtown Prior Lake, in May, 2026, built from the ground up inside a shared, multi-tenant building. The palette is bright and bold and warm and welcoming all at once. Reclaimed barnwood, antique mirror, a lush moss wall, and several custom murals set the tone and bring texture and life throughout the restaurant.
Upstairs, a mezzanine does double duty as everyday dining and private event space. Its two rooms can be closed off behind a custom theater curtain when it's time to host a private event.
The design carries the same spirit found in the owner's own story: family and community at the center of everything he does. The two private dining rooms are named Jalisco, the birthplace of mariachi music and tequila, and Zacatecas, the beautiful region of Mexico where his family roots run deep. From the first concept, the goal was simple: build a space where every guest feels like family the moment they walk through the door.
